Artist Statement

Investigating ideas of place, sentimentality, and the ephemeral, the work aims to invite pause.

Influenced by the coastal landscapes of both Southern California and the North Shore of Massachusetts, and drawing from various histories, including Light and Space and Minimalism, the work is driven by the ideas of both physical and metaphysical splendor and phenomena.

Chasing beauty within the constraints of a limited, formal vocabulary, I actively pursue the space between these seemingly disparate poles.

The resulting tension between the visual complexities achieved through repetition and materiality, and a prescribed, compositional sparseness, encourages intimacy in experience.

I want the work to look like nothing, and then everything.
